WHEN VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED

As other events needing volunteers are planned, we will post them to this page. Please return periodically for updates.

Two major ANNUAL FEDERATION volunteer events:
Super Sunday & Live Generously Mitzvah Day

SUPER SUNDAY

Super Sunday is traditionally scheduled each year for the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Over 100 volunteers participate in this annual, community-wide phone-a-thon to reach hundreds of families and connect with them for a pledge for Campaign 2007.

To accomplish this, volunteers participate by making phone calls, helping to set up food for the volunteers, addressing confirming letters and envelopes and other activities that help to make this a celebration of community from 9AM thru 3PM on Super Sunday and in the evenings on Marvelous Monday and Tzedakah Tuesday.

Calls for volunteers start in September and you can use the “Contact Us” form on the contact page to volunteer yourself in this fun-filled and rewarding activity that benefits the entire Jewish community – locally, nationally and globally.

Live Generously Mitzvah Day

This 2nd Annual Mitzvah Day Event, Sunday, May 6, 2007, begins
with a Kick Off Breakfast hosted at Menorah Park. After opening
remarks, everyone breaks into their volunteer work teams and heads out for 2 hours of performing a variety of tasks that will benefits the host site.

At Menorah Park there will be multiple tasks to be done. In addition, we have provided volunteers to the Salvation Army, Rescue Mission, area Congregations, Food Pantry, etc. Federation provided a volunteer project that children of pre-school age were most capable of doing. Sunday School classes from area synagogues participated while in school by creating projects that were completed and then forwarded to organizations in the community to benefit their service goals.

Notices for volunteering for Mitzvah Day will begin to appear in The Jewish Observer newspaper early in spring.
