WHEN VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED

As events needing volunteers are planned,we will post them here.

Please return periodically for updates.

SUPER SUNDAY

Sunday - December 6, 2009

Super Sunday is traditionally scheduled on a Sunday during the Fall/Winter holiday season. Over 100 volunteers participate in this annual Phone-A-Thon that reaches out to hundreds of families to connect with them for their pledges to Federation's Annual Campaign.

To accomplish this, volunteers make phone calls, help set up refreshments for the volunteers, address confirmation letters and envelopes and other activities that help to make this a

"Celebration of Community" from 9AM-3PM on Super Sunday.

The call for volunteers starts in October.

You can use the “Contact Us” form on the contact page to volunteer yourself for this fun-filled and rewarding activity that benefits the entire Jewish community – locally, nationally and globally.

Mitzvah Day

TBA

The Federation's 4th Annual Mitzvah Day is tentatively scheduled for TBA.  It begins with a Lite Kick Off Meal.  After opening remarks, everyone breaks into their Volunteer Work Teams and heads out for 2 hours of performing a variety of volunteer tasks that will be of benefit the community host site.

At Menorah Park there will be multiple tasks to be done. In addition, we have provided volunteers to the Salvation Army, Rescue Mission, area Congregations, Food Pantry, etc.  Federation provides a volunteer project that children of pre-school age and adults are able to work on together.  Sunday School classes from area synagogues participate while in school by creating projects that are completed and then forwarded to organizations in the community to benefit their clients.

Notices for volunteering for Mitzvah Day will begin to appear in The Jewish Observer newspaper early in spring.
